A fire broke out aboard the vessel later on Thursday (20), and the Sri Lanka Navy dispatched 02 Offshore Patrol Vessels, Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) Sagara, SLNS Sindurala, and a Fast Attack Craft to the scene of the fire.

Late last year, India, the world's biggest sugar producer behind Brazil, approved subsidies of 5,833 Indian rupees per tonne to encourage cash-strapped mills to export 6 million tonnes of sugar in the current 2020/21 season. India on Thursday cut sugar export subsidies by 31.4% for the current season, which ends on Sept. 30, according to a government order issued by the Ministry Of Consumer Affairs, Food And Public Distribution.

India may impose anti-dumping duty on Phthalic Anhydride imported from China, Indonesia, South Korea, and Thailand on the basis of an application filed by IG Petrochemicals Limited, SI Group India Private Limited, and Thirumalai Chemicals. The Directorate General of Trade Remedies under the commerce and industry ministry has recommended a duty between $40.08- 140.17 per MT on the imports of the chemical intermediate used in the plastic industry.
