The oil marketing year runs from October 2020 through September 2021. In its latest supply and demand estimate, the Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA) has projected soybean meal exports to be around 18 lakh tonnes, more than double the 8.62 lakh tonnes reported in the previous year.

Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has requested the central government to announce the applicable rates for various export goods under the newly announced Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) scheme. Addressing a virtual press conference, FIEO President Sharad Kumar Saraf said the exporters are waiting to know the RoDTEP rates to finalise their fresh contracts.

Iranian apples are being imported first in Afghanistan. These apples are being re-branded as Afghanistan-produced apples, said Bashir Ahmad Basheer, chairman of the Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers-cum-Dealers Union, which represents all fruit traders’ associations in the region. He said trading agents and customers in Delhi’s Azadpur fruit mandi alerted them to the imports. “When a different type of apple consignment reaches the mandi, it is easily discernible to the people there.”

In a welcome move, import duty on ferrous scrap was removed in the Indian budget presented on 01 Feb '21. The duty that had been set at 2.5% has been exempted up to 31 Mar '22. Also, a voluntary vehicle scrapping policy has been announced to phase out old and unfit vehicles.
