MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company wishes to confirm that vessels continue to experience significant delays upon arrival at ports throughout Australia. The congestion in the port of Sydney, initially caused by weather related incidents and then further amplified by recent industrial action, is now causing extended delays at both the ports of Melbourne and Brisbane.

High winds over the weekend in the UK, added to slow-working at the port of Felixstowe and the cyber-attack on CMA CGM, will result in supply chain misery for weeks. CMA CGM’s UK office has begun taking manual bookings for Southampton calls, while its latest haulage-availability spreadsheet, sent to customers shows that it will not take bookings to and from any port in the UK to any inland destination until at least 12 October.

Kerala state officials announced a minimum support price for farm-fresh fruits and vegetables with effect from November 1. The state will procure the produce when prices drop below cost of production. According to state Agriculture Minister V.S. Sunil Kumar, the government has earmarked ₹1.1billion for the scheme, aiming to fix the right price for the produce, raise production and encourage farming.

The Horticulture Department from Tamil Nadu’s Trichy District has announced incentives to growers to cultivate organic vegetables in the district. The incentive varies based on vegetables as growers will get Rs 1,000 per acre for greens, Rs 1,500 per acre for tomato, brinjal, ladies finger, gourds, and broad beans and Rs 2,000 for cabbage, cauliflower, capsicum and beans. Growers will be also given an additional Rs 200 per acre to meet certification charges.

Potato prices in India started rising in December 2019 due to the delay in harvesting the early rabi crop. Although they fell a bit in February and March with the arrival of the new harvest, they have remained at higher than average prices during the same period in previous years due to less area planted, lower yields and transportation issues.

Due to the recent typhoons, HAPAG LLOYD are currently experiencing some Yard Congestion including a delay in vessel berthing for all Marine Terminals at Pusan Port. To recover yard capacity and productivity some terminals only allow gate-in laden containers which will be loaded onto vessels departing within the next 10 days. Despite various efforts terminals are expect that this congestion will continue further until mid of October.

Which means that the company’s business websites – APL, ANL, CNC and CMA CGM and some of IT applications are currently unavailable due to internal IT infrastructure issue. A container vessel X-Press Godavari ship has caught fire and Indian Coast Guard ships and aircraft have been deployed for the firefighting operation on September 28. Indian Coast Guard ship Amogh and Dornier aircraft have commenced firefighting operations as ICGS Amrit Kaur and Varad are proceeding to the area for further assistance.
