A proposal in this regard has been sent to the Union Textile Ministry and Union Commerce Ministry, and their response is awaited.

MAERSK has issued a notice with an update on short-term booking in the West and East Africa Corridor. All short-term bookings will be done only via Maersk Spot for India, Srilanka and Bangladesh. Instead of receiving rate sheets or requesting for online quotes on these trades, fixed upfront rates will be provided through Maersk Spot. This change comes into effect on July 1st 2020 for dry cargo only.

Iran and India had held a new round of negotiations on signing a preferential trade agreement (PTA) between the two sides in mid-February. Signing this PTA is of great significance for India, as the country will be able to diversify its export basket which is now limited to agricultural products.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Mumbai zone, has seized 13 metric tonnes of red sanders which were being smuggled to Sharjah, UAE from the Nhava Sheva port in Navi Mumbai. The blocks of red sanders were concealed in the cover cargo of onions. The central law enforcement agency has also arrested two members of the syndicate.
