Chennai Customs have stepped-up and decided that public notice register containers and direct port delivery containers lying at Chennai and Kattupalli ports will be evacuated by rail to the inland container depot (ICD) run by Container Corporation of India Ltd (Concor) at Tondiarpet from midnight of Saturday to ease congestion at Chennai and Kattupalli ports.

At a meeting of the Board of Trade held to seek suggestions on a new Foreign Trade Policy, Mr Sakthivel said, “At present, the facility of self-certification and self-ratification, available under the Advance Authorisation scheme to other sectors, is not available to the apparel sector. In cases where Standard Input-Output Norms (SION) are not there, exporters in the apparel sector have to wait for a longer period for getting SION fixed in the norms committee. MV ONE APUS confirms that ONE Apus is proceeding to the port of Kobe, Japan, with an ETA of December 8, after facing severe weather on Monday, November 30, 2020, and losing sections of its load. The main priority of ONE Apus is to get the crew and vessels safely to the port. After berthing, it is expected to take some time to offload the dislodged containers that remain on board. Once done, a thorough assessment will be conducted on the exact number and type of containers that have been damaged and lost.
