Trade across the India- Bhutan border through Jaigaon in West Bengal's Alipurduar district was suspended after a lockdown was imposed to curb the rise in COVID-19 cases in the Himalayan kingdom. The border gates between India's Jaigaon and Bhutan's Phuentsholing were closed after the total lockdown came into force in the neighbouring country.

The same cargo congestion issues that have paralyzed big airports in the U.S., China and Europe during the pandemic have materialized in Australia. The airport operations division of the Emirates Group warned it is experiencing delays processing import cargo at Sydney Airport because of an unplanned spike in volume from additional freighter services and passenger planes operating in cargo mode. The passenger aircraft include large shipments of medical supplies and personal protection equipment loaded in the passenger cabin to increase the carrying capacity.

It has decided to export the vegetable produces to Middle East countries such as Dubai, Kuwait, Oman & Saudi Arabia. As per information, two metric tonnes of vegetable are already packed and would be exported from Kolkata on 13th August.

After two four-day walk-outs to protest stalled contract talks, dockworkers launched an unlimited strike. The Syndicat des débardeurs du Port de Montréal and the Maritime Employers Association (MEA) were unable to reach an agreement despite talks that lasted until 1 a.m. Monday.

The government has formed a committee to determine ceiling rates under the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) scheme. The panel has been tasked with evolving a mechanism for calculation of duties at the central, state and local level which are borne by exporters so that they can be refunded all the taxes paid on goods and services used in export but are currently not being reimbursed under extant mechanisms.

The Director-General of Civil Aviation is reported to have suspended the operations of wide-bodied aircraft at the Calicut International Airport, following the accident of the Air India Express flight, killing 18 passengers on board, including the pilot and the co-pilot. Currently, Saudi Arabian Airlines and Air India are operating wide-bodied aircraft at the airport. Sources in the sector said that the DGCA has given a verbal order in this regard to temporarily withdraw the services of these airlines.
