The Rajasthan Small Industries Corporation Ltd. (RAJSICO) flagged off the first container train from Jodhpur (ICD Basni) to APM Terminals Pipavav for exports to various countries. The train was flagged off by Dr. Rajesh Sharma, Division Commissioner & Managing Director, RAJSICO, last week. This is the first such direct train between Jodhpur (ICD Basni) & APM Terminals Pipavav.

As per a client update from German liner Hapag-Lloyd yesterday, there are currently 35 ships at anchor waiting to berth at the US’s top two ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach due to the spike in import volumes and lack of dockside labour thanks to a Covid outbreak. This figure is down by two ships from January 29. Congestion at ports on both sides of North America remains a severe issue, though the ship queues look to be easing this week.

Port of Piraeus in Greece currently suffers from bad weather conditions with strong north winds, low temperature, snowfall, and ice during the night hours, since the afternoon of Sunday, February 14th, 2021. Based on the latest weather forecast, the same conditions are also expected for the whole day, Monday, February 15th, 2021, and Tuesday, February 16th, 2021. General operation delays are expected, affecting the vessels already under operation and the expected new arrivals.

Effective March 15, 2021, the SMD charge will reflect as Indian Rupees (INR) 3,750 per Bill of Lading (subject to local tax) instead of US Dollars (USD) 35 per Bill of Lading on your invoice. Please note there is no change to the charge but merely converting currency from USD to INR.
