Import/Export Industry Notifications

Major global container shipping lines have been skipping India’s top container gateways, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust and Mundra port. Since, it has been challenging to clear import containers from the two ports, and since the export volume has dropped too low, blank sailings are taking place.

In the wake of the COVID 19 lockdown in the country, people have not been able to receive their import deliveries at the ports which are causing congestion. The containers from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) and Mundra Port are being moved to CFSs currently. But, in the next 3-4 days, they are expected to reach their holding capacity congesting and leaving the ports stranded.

The peace clause protects a developing country’s food procurement programmes against action from WTO members in case subsidy ceilings are breached.
